What I packed in my Hospital Bag

Happy Wednesday everyone!! Surprise!! I delivered a happy, healthy, and beautiful baby boy last week! And yes I posted my last blog post in the hospital πŸ˜‚ I figured I wrote it, I should share it! I took the last week to really soak in family time away from social media. It felt so good.

My two boys are truly what makes my world go round. Lennox and I are doing good and Cayde is so in love with his baby brother. I make sure I still find alone time to spend with Cayde so he doesn’t feel left out.

Today’s blog post is about what to pack in your hospital bag. This is my second time around and let me tell you what, I still didn’t use half of what I brought. Let me start off by saying not all hospitals are the same. One of the main reasons we decided to stay where I was born and raised was because we had such a good first experience at our hospital delivering Cayde. I didn’t want to deliver Lennox anywhere else. My hospital gave us pretty much everything I needed.

This is the only picture I got of my hospital bag πŸ˜‚ I totally did a blogger fail and didn’t capture a cute bump photo with my packed hospital bags. The night I went into labor, I finished packing my bag.

For the Mommas:

1. Eye mask. This is a must so you can get some sleep during the day.

2. Body lotion. Your hands will get so dry from washing them so much.

3. Deodorant

4. Makeup remover wipes. I did bring my face bar and face lotion and I used neither. To refresh my face after delivering and at night/morning I just used makeup remover wipes.

5. Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.

6. Chapstick. Believe me when I say the hospital dries your lips out. I was even asking for chapstick right after I delivered Lennox because they felt so dry.

7. Dry Shampoo. You can see I also packed shampoo and conditioner. I totally didn’t use those. Dry shampoo all the way!

8. Body wash. I didn’t use this either because the hospital had body wash for me to use.

9. Hairbrush

10. Body Sponge

11. Can’t forget about the cute toiletry bag!

12. Weekender bag

13. Extra tote. You will be coming home with way more than you entered the hospital with. Bringing an empty tote is a must.

14. Robe. Honestly I used the gown that the hospital had my whole stay. I didn’t want to bring anymore than I needed. I used the robe when I would go to the nursery or when I walked the halls.

15. Coming home outfit. I included black sweatpants that were loose and thin and a tshirt. Comfort is key.

16. Charger. I also brought an extension card so I could have my phone right next to me if charging.

16. I used my iPhone as my camera.

17. Wallet

18. Snacks galore!

19. Socks. My hospital also provided these but I wanted cute ones to wear.

20. Nursing bra

21. Cheap flip flops to wear in the shower.

22. Hair ties

23. Pillow and blanket. This made me more comfortable sleeping at night.

My hospital provided:

1. Tucks Pads

2. Perineal bottle

3. Nipple cream (if breastfeeding)

4. Pads

5. Underwear

And for the baby:

1. Diapers and wipes

2. Little onesies

4. Swaddle blankets

4. Hats

What I packed for baby:

1. Coming home outfit

2. Swaddle blanket and hat to take cute photos

3. Infant car seat

And literally that was it.

For all you first time moms, ask your hospital what they provide. A good tip is whatever the nurses put in your room, you pay for (well your insurance). So when you are getting discharged, take those extra pads, diapers, etc! You will use them when you get home!

For your spouse, really all they need is extra clothes and their toothbrush.

Pack travel sized items! Everything I brought was travel sized so I only had one bag. I didn’t even put on makeup. I rather soak in the first 48 hours with my baby boy than doing my makeup.

I hope this is helpful and as always if you have any questions/comments leave them below!

Baby Celebration

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I’ve been MIA for the past few weeks. I have mainly been focusing on spending this last month of my pregnancy with family and Cayde. Literally soaking up every minute! I have also been nesting like crazy, which I love! If you know me, you know I love reorganizing! Home Goods and Ikea are my jam! Anyways, back to today’s blog post! Today I will be sharing baby boy #2 celebration! I hated the term sprinkle and honestly I wanted this “baby shower” to be more of a celebration, not about the gifts. So that’s why I chose to call it a “baby bash” or “celebration.”

My budget for this was $50 and I only spent $43! I had a lot of left over items from when I planned Caydes baby shower so that helped a lot! Let me first share the ONLY picture we got from that day πŸ˜‚

I timed everything perfectly! I was late to my own baby celebration but we celebrated, laughed, and had fun after I arrived! There was a chance of rain that day and I was praying it would hold off until after the celebration. After an hour (the celebration was only for two hours), it got windy out. Stuff was blowing everywhere, confetti going into the food, and the tablecloth wouldn’t stay down. We knew rain was coming so we opened gifts and had the kids decorate their own cupcakes!

As soon as we finished eating and opening gifts we started packing up. The place I had my celebration had a small beach and a small playground for the kids to play at. So we were planning on doing that after we ate. As we were packing the cars up, it started to downpour! Literally we timed everything perfectly! I couldn’t have asked for a better celebration for our baby boy!

Now onto the decorations and food! So as you can see it was simple and that’s how I wanted it. The “oh baby” balloons I found in the dollar section at Target months ago! My mom let me borrow the checkered tablecloth and I bought the baby blue tablecloth at the Dollar Tree. The plates, napkins, cups, and silverware were all from the Dollar Tree as well. Any leftovers utensils I will be using after baby boy arrives! You can see one white balloon behind me because the rest popped after 30 minutes of being in the heat! They had confetti in them so I had some of that leftover and I sprinkled that on the table.

The balloons I bought at Five Below for Caydes shower and I think I got them for $3, maybe even $1. They came in a pack of 6 with confetti. They didn’t last too long with the wind and humidity. So I am kinda glad I didn’t rush out and get last minute balloons.

Now for the food I decided on a Chick-fil-A platter of chicken nuggets and different sauces, pasta salad, a bowl of fruit, and cupcakes. For drinks I had water bottles, iced tea, and Honest kid drinks.

For party favors, I created little bags that had the ingredients to make s’mores! Which I totally thought I took a picture of but didn’t 😭 I made a tag for them that said, “Adding s’more love to our family.” They turned out so cute! I wish I could show you all, but I did take a picture of the bowl of fruit I madeπŸ˜‚

In the end, this was all about celebrating baby boy #2 and me just having some friend/family time before he arrives. I had so much fun and Cayde loved running around and hanging out with his cousins! I could not have asked for a better day, except for I wish Rico could have been here.

Thank you for reading and as always if you have questions or comments, leave them below!!

You are Doing Awesome

Happy Friday friends!! Don’t we all love a short work week after a holiday weekend?! Today’s blog post is well real. It is honest. I am writing it because I want others, not even just moms, but other women or men to know even the perfect pictures you see on social media are just a glimpse. We are all human. Life isn’t perfect and it for sure isn’t meant to be. We need to make mistakes to learn from them. How will we ever grow into a better person if we don’t make mistakes?

Being a mom is tough, but it is truly the best job I have ever had! I guess you can say I am a single mom right now even though I am far from single. Rico travels a lot! And there are times I can’t travel with him, like the last few weeks of my pregnancy. I have learned if I can’t get everything done that I need too, there is tomorrow. I am talking about the laundry or the dirty dishes not getting cleaned. Or if Caydes toys are not picked up before we go to bed. I’ve learned it’s okay and it is not the end of the world. I cry because I miss Rico. I don’t have help. At the end of the day, we are happy and healthy!

I’m here to tell you, I am far from perfect. Cayde is far from perfect too. He is a happy baby and he loves to snuggle. Let me tell you what, I thought my son would never eat his own poop. What happened 2 weeks ago that I didn’t share on stories, my son ate his own poop. I was in the laundry room for not even 5 minutes and I could hear him going to the bathroom. I thought well I will give him another minute or two to make sure he is done. Turned the washer on and I walked out and Cayde is licking his fingers. I thought well we just ate lunch, but I washed his hands. Then that’s when I saw it. Mommas it happens. This was all within 5 minutes. He is fine. He is healthy. He didn’t eat a lot of it. He didn’t get sick. I quickly gave him a bath and made him drink water. He is a okay!

Cayde is my little adventurer! I love it, except for all the times he is clumsy. He will run into walls without looking to see where he is going. He has banged his head off of more walls and floors than I can count. Does that make me a bad mom? Nope! My son has the personality of a free spirit, one like a sky diver. He has no fear. Some babies are more aware, cautious than other babies. You can’t protect your little ones from EVERYTHING!

Cayde has learned from his mistakes. He fell down 3 steps (aside from when I took a tumble carrying him down steps) and now he is cautious of the steps. He has fallen off a chair, he won’t stand on furniture now. Let me tell you, he is fine. He is growing the way he should, speaking the way he should, and all that Jazz. Plus all those percentiles are just an average of all the babies that age. Look at genetics. I am small and the majority of my family is too. Rico was a skinny baby. Trust your mom gut.

Just know you are doing awesome! Tomorrow is a new day,so don’t fret the small things. Enjoy every moment! Go jump in the rain puddles, heck let your kids play in the mud, eat dirt. They will be fine! What you see on social media is only a glimpse into a persons life. We all struggle, we all make mistakes, and we all cry. Just a little Friday motivation for you all! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Oh and also let your kids eat a pop-sickle on your sofa. It wipes right off!

Second Trimester Update

Gosh! This pregnancy is flying by! I guess because this pregnancy I have traveled more and I am already a mom to a very active one year old! I feel like I have so much more to do until baby boy arrives when in reality it’s all in my head.

I have reorganized the nursery since we moved into our new place a thousand times. No seriously! We lack storage space in our new place so I have to come up with new ways to organize everything. I finally went through the newborn clothes that were boxed up and now I just have to freshen them up. All that is left is to decorate in the nursery…I think!

Oh besides build Caydes bed. I am transferring him to his FIRST big boy bed! He is ready and his doctors confirm it is okay. Baby boy will sleep in a bassinet next to us in our room for the first 6 months. By that time we will be making the decision to either move or stay renting where we are. I can’t even think that far ahead!

Really the only essentials we need are diapers and wipes. Oh and a double stroller! Packing of the diaper bag and our hospital bag will come in the last month of pregnancy. Okay the more I write, the more that comes to mind πŸ˜‚ But it is all the little things that will come together in the next few weeks.

Overall, I have been feeling pretty good. Not as exhausted as I thought I would be. No morning sickness/nausea, no heartburn, and no swelling. My eyesight has for sure gotten worse earlier this pregnancy. Hence why I have been wearing my glasses more on stories. My skin is super, super dry and finding a lotion to help has been a challenge. If you all have any recommendations please send them my way!

I still get comments all the time how small I am. That is why we decided to not tell people how many weeks I am unless they are family and close friends. I am healthy and baby boy is growing like he should. Unless my doctors are concerned, I am not.

That is all for now! If you all ever have any questions about anything, don’t hesitate to ask!

Surprise Gender Reveal

Well! I have been meaning to do a post about the gender of Baby G #2, but life has been crazy busy. I also wanted to get good photos! So my girl, Lindsay hooked us up when we went to visit her in Virginia! Seriously do not know what I would do without that girl!

Scroll down to see some fun photos we took , even ones of us having some fun with πŸ’—paintπŸ’™

πŸ’™πŸ’™IT’S A BOY!! πŸ’™πŸ’™

I am going to be an all boy mom! Say WHAT??!! I am going to be outnumbered. That is totally fine with me! Of course Rico is through the roof excited to have not one but two minis of him. I cannot lie though. I was a tad bit bummed when I found out the baby wasn’t a girl. That quickly changed though because honestly, a mini me? Who am I kidding? Maybe some day but not anytime soon. I am so stinkin excited to welcome another baby boy into this world and he is already so loved!!

We almost didn’t get to see what gender Baby G #2 is because my little man was being stubborn. He was so curled up that he was hiding. I give major props to the nurse who did the ultrasound. After trying to move him she finally got some good pictures of well you know. Rico couldn’t make it to this appointment, so he was straight up texting, calling me the moment he knew I was done. We honestly thought the baby was a girl. I just feel so different this time around. No matter what the gender was going to be, we are just so thrilled and blessed we have another healthy, happy baby to welcome into this beautiful world!!

How hysterical is Caydes face in the one picture? Haha. You have to zoom in to see it. He was not thrilled about taking pictures. It was not exactly hot and 80 degrees outside. It was windy and kinda chilly. But he is a mommas boy so he did so good!

Now I am off to do some more {online} shopping since this time around I am having a summer baby!

First Trimester

You guys are seriously amazing! Thank you so much for all your love, support, and kind words!! When I found out I was pregnant, I was so excited. Rico was in Arizona working and I was in Pennsylvania so Cayde was technically the first to know. I called Rico immediately after and told him the exciting news!

How did I know I was pregnant? I had the same symptoms that I had with Cayde this time around. Only for the first few weeks though! My face broke out with acne and I couldn’t drink alcohol, even a sip of wine made me sick. I was in Flordia drinking a margarita when I got sick with Cayde. That was the first sign. This time I was drinking one glass of wine and got sick. The look and smell of alcohol makes me nauseated, still! Gosh how times have changed since my college days! Then my face started slowly breaking out and the exhaustion hit.

With Cayde I was sick to the point I had to go to ER because I couldn’t even keep water down let alone food. This time I was just nauseated. As soon as the second trimester hit for this baby, the nausea was gone. Hopefully it stays that way. I am able to eat whatever I am feeling unlike I could with Cayde. When they say every pregnancy is different, it is TRUE! I waited so long to announce to everyone I was pregnant because I didn’t even feel pregnant. Besides the acne, soreness of the breasts, and bloating from 6 weeks on, I didn’t feel pregnant.

It was around Christmas that we officially found out. My family and I took a trip to visit my sister in New York and I remember thinking that whole car ride, “Don’t vomit.” Gosh that was a rough 6 hour car ride. I made it through but I felt so bad. I could barely eat and just wanted to stay in bed. I wasn’t my usual happy, outgoing self. I knew then I needed to take a test.

After multiple doctor visits and hearing that heartbeat, I knew we were having a baby! Gosh we are so blessed.

So far we have a healthy, happy baby. We are getting Cayde prepared the best we can. He is such a lover and a snuggler so I am not worried. We know it will be exhausting and not easy, but we are so ready. Almost. We just need to find a house. No biggie. 🀣 Cayde is already so independent that the only thing left is to potty train. We will start that when he is ready. I will continue to update you all on this journey. I haven’t been on stories much because we are literally in the middle of nowhere outside Columbus, Ohio. I rarely have service unless I am connected to WiFi. I am not complaining. We are actually enjoying the countryside and seeing how farmers do it all.

Much love! XOXO

Special Surprise!!

We have some really exciting news to share with you all and you can probably guess what it is already by my pictures! Baby G number 2 is arriving this summer!! πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ We are over the moon excited!!

This baby is already so loved but gosh having two babies under 2?! Cayde is going to be the best big brother ever. He is so loving and the best snuggler. So I am not worried. Nervous? Anxious? Yes! Rico and I have the support from our family and closest friends that we know we will be just fine. I am so excited to take you guys on this journey with me!

Let me just say I am so glad you all know! It was so hard to keep it a secret and not being able to take and post pictures…it was a struggle. I will be doing a blog post on my gender reveal so stay tuned for that.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! I will share the answers on a blog post or on my Instagram stories. Rico and I so excited to share this news and even more excited to take you all on this journey. I had “morning” sickness (more like all day and night sickness) during my first trimester. So far my second trimester has been no sickness. ❀️

I added a realistic photo of me trying to get a picture with Cayde standing, holding my hand. The only way he would was with food! He is definitely my son!
